  Nagas living on the edge

Nagas, like any race of the world has its own distinct culture myths, ethos, etc. The uniqueness of Naga history is recognized but not read, discovered yet not dissected. Perhaps it is the time for us to understand and think over it. Otherwise, what went wrong to our people is asked by every individual of today's generation. Is the political scenario of present Nagaland true to the sense of people? Perhaps, it is high time for the political leaders to ponder upon this matter. Today many political leaders are leading the people for their own personal gain, fame, wealth etc. and not for the welfare of the society, state or country at large. Are the leaders speaking and doing the right thing for the people? Many leaders make false promises and divide the people into cleavage instead of bringing to work together. They never preach what they practice. To follow or not to follow is the question of every people as the present situation is very sensitive and blur. Most of our leaders have misled the people in the past and perhaps till today.

DIMAPUR, APRIL 12: NSCN (I-M) general secretary Th. Muivah has said genuine unification was possible only through reconciliation and that the NSCN (I-M) always supported reconciliation initiatives from any quarter.
Talking to mediapersons here at Dimapur Airport Saturday afternoon just before his departure to New Delhi to take part in another round of talks with representatives of Government of India, Muivah said the NSCN (I-M) had made its position very clear in the February 2007 declaration of the NSCN (I-M) collective leadership - that the NSCN (I-M) was willing to go through anything and to any extent through reconciliation.

Factionalism: A threat to Naga Nationalism

Since 1947, after the British left, Nagaland remained a disturbed area. The saga of Naga imbroglio is well acquainted to almost every Naga. During a span of 60 years tremendous political mileage occurred today. Nationalism in Naga context seems to be taking a new devastating trend quite contrary to people’s expectation known as Factionalism.

News on Nagas (Read More... | 1987 bytes more | comments? | Nagas | Score: 0)Posted by Poumai on Tuesday, April 08, 2008 @ 06:24:30 CDT (37 reads)

Dimapur, April 7: The NSCN-IM today said that one of its cadres, one “ASO” Daile “abducted on March 29 by the unification group” was found dead yesterday at Chumukedima. The body of the killed cadre, abducted from 5th Mile, Dimapur, was “badly mutilated and decomposed” an MIP note stated.

The outfit termed the unabated abductions to be in total defiance of the wishes and appeals of the Naga civil society and that the provocative confrontation of the unification group has undergone a turn for the killing.
